Open Question: Golf ball spin question?

So when i hit my wedges with a full swing with crisp pure contact why doesnt my ball back up when it lands like the pros ball does? i hit it clean and i have brand new vokey wedges so its not my grooves. i want it to spin back but no matter what i try it never happens. hope you have some pointers cheers more

is it okay to buy a titlest lob wedge when the rest of your irons are Nike? I know putters and drivers are no problem but just wondering about adding wedges to the mix. I was wondering about buying new wedges from Golf Smith, but then redoing the Paint fill on them. I would do college team colors or any colors on any wedge that the customer wants. I think I will be mainly doing vokey wedges since those are one of the most popular selling wedges in golf. Voting Question: What golf mat should I get?

I don't know what golf mat I should get. I have a practice net but I don't want to hit off the grass. I need something I can hit my driver, woods, irons and wedges on, something I can put MY tee in instead of the rubber ones. Also a mat that wont damage my clubs like some mats out there. I need something around $200, please help.I am a bit confused as to what I need Do I get one huge mat or one mat for my stance then another for the ball? I am willing to spend at most $250 even though it says $200. more

Lately with my higher lofted irons and even some or the lower i have been hitting hard duck hooks left that can just kill a round. I'm pretty sure that it's my grip positioning with my hands. I have developed a new grip for my 8,9 irons, and my wedge but idk why but it hurt my hands too bad for the lower irons. Resolved Question: playing a golf tournament this weekend and the course is long (7600 yards) the problem is I am not long off...?

the tee. I average about 240-245 on my drives. I am also not particularly good with my fairway woods and hybrids either, I tend to hit a slice with them on occasion. I am however pretty good with my 6 iron on down to lob wedge. My question is on the long par 4's (some as long as (500 yards) would I be better off hitting my drive then say a 6 or 7 iron and wedge to the green and hope for a few 1 putts to save par or do take my chances and go with the hybrids? It's not a big tournament (8 guys) and we do this 4 times a year. We are all around the same handicap and I won the last tournament we played with an 89...just telling you that info to help you form your opinion. Thanks more

Resolved Question: I need help selecting a golf ball?

I have been playing the Pro V1's for quite a few years now, but apparently a switch is needed. I have always had a very steep swing. I hit down on the ball very hard, and produce quite a large divot. I have always spun balls on the green, or they bite rather quick. I am guessing it's b/c of the new irons and wedges I am using this year, but my balls are spinning like crazy. I hit a ball in the middle of the green, and the stinkin thing is spinning 30 feet off onto the front fringe. I try and take a more relaxed swing, and play one more club, and they still are spinning WAY too much. My swing and ball of choice hasn't changed over the last few years, only my irons and wedges. Since I am not going to get rid of those, I figured I should probably go with a different ball that doesn't spin quite as much as the Pro V1. Can anyone make some suggestions for me? I do like the softer feel ball, particularly when I am putting. I don't keep up with all the latest equipment, so I am really clueless on what to go out and try. Thanks for the help more

I am currently about a 5 handicap at the moment, i am 20 years of age, i took a year off golf, been out about 5 times this year, and have been surprising myself this year shooting under par a couple times and a few over. I have at my Cleveland TA7 Tour iron set since i was 15, i am thinking its about time i got some new clubs. My Current club distance is as follows I hit a fairly long ball: Driver: 300+ Yards (Cobra 390sz about 4 years old) 2 Iron: 245+ yards (Old Titleist model) 3 Iron: 230 yards 4 Iron: 220 yards 5 Iron: 210 yards 6 Iron: 200 yards 7 Iron: 175 yards 8 Iron: 160 yards 9 Iron: 148 yards Pitching Wedge: 135 yards Sand Wedge: 120 yards (Cleveland REG 588. 56 degree)Just looking for an iron set, i can drive fine, dont need to improve on that. Something that can compete with todays clubs would be fine. more

Resolved Question: What's my potential? Am I a natural at golf? Is this something I should pursue? Do I have a chance at the pga?

I'm 23 years old (yes I know it's old to start) and I just started the game last year. I might have gone to the driving range here and there or mini putt but never actually played the game of golf until last year and I loved it. I went maybe 8 times last year and already 15 times this year. I've never had instruction ever but I'm planning on it. Just this year I was shooting 105-110 and have improved to 95-100 and now I'm already shooting 88-92 in my last 2 or 3 times I've gone. The main reason with my first drop was my confidence in my putter. The rest that I've been dropping is my consistent irons and consistent fairway hits off the tee. I hit the driver 240-250 nice and easy and hit the fairway 80 percent of the time. My irons have been improving dramatically each time I go! My short game is really solid where if I'm using my sand wedge which is usually 60-70 yards and in then I'm very confident I'll land on the green. Rarely do I three putt. I feel like I'm a natural at this and with proper instruction and practice, I can make something out of it. What do you guys think? Any tips? What should I do first? Thanks in advance!!!!!! more

Open Question: practice routine suggestions?

Hey, whats your normal golf practice routine in a day? I do this only two days in weekdays and the weekends, other day for gym. Mine, i wake up at 5.30, go to golf club at 7. 20 minutes of flexibility exercise and yoga and off to practice green for an hour. Then finish my 100-150 balls, starting from wedge to driver (before hitting a driver, ill pull out my 52 wedge to keep my rhythm in place). Then ill be gone to course. After finishing 9 or 18 holes, i go back to the range to work out my flaws in the course just then with 100 balls and off to green for two hours. Im done for the day after that =) What are yours and any suggestions/comments to make my practice routine better and perhaps, train like a professional? thanks in advance =) cheers. by the way, i am a college student. Any suggestions for me to arrange time between study and practicing golf? i have two classes a day, no classes for two days in the week. I know i may asked this twice but i would want more answer to broaden the suggestions and perhaps, learn more from other golfers =) cheers more

Resolved Question: Check up golf shot. Short game.?

I have been trying to work on my short game in golf and I have been trying to put spin on the ball and i know all about the type of ball and put in back of stance and down swing and all that. However I am trying to hit that shot when you ball bounces one and stops and see to be having problems hitting it. When I use my sand wedge (56 degree) I play it in the back of my stance and open face slightly and open stance slightly. Come down on ball but it hits Green then releasess to the hole. Maybe I am hitting the wrong club or the wrong shot I don't know. Also any suggestions when is a good time to play the hop and stop shot or the flop shot, or the hit and release to hole shot. Any help would be great thanks. more

I am starting to put together a complete golf club set. The first club I purchased was a 56 degree Titleist Vokey sand wedge. After that I purchased a set of Callaway X-18R irons which came with a 56 degree sand wedge. I was planning on trading in one of the sand wedges for a lob or attack wedge at a used golf store, but I don't know which one to get rid of. more

Resolved Question: We have handicapped plates issued by AZ state and use them to park. can apartment mgmt require doctos note?

We live In AZ and our apartment complex which we recently moved to has an issue with learning how to patrol the handicapped parking spots in our complex. Prior to us moving in, we picked this unit due to proximity of handicapped accessability as my BF has had a spinal fusion, repaired & reconstructed pelvis, reconstructed knee and still has a series of 3-6 major surgeries left, one now coming at the end of the month where they are going to cut across the entire bone of his leg, insert a carbon fiber wedge and reinsert another cadevor graphed ligament to replace his ACL. So point being, legitamately has and benefits from thsi parking allocation. a motorcycle accident has left him permanently disabled, permanent nerve damage and he has more metal in him than robo-cop. (Smile, its cool, but its true). Based on his status, he has obtained legatimate permanent handicapped liscense plate from the state of AZ and has it on his truck. After fighting with the apartment complex for a month (due to these are technically on private property), they are no closer to patrolling or ticketing the daily residential and often use the parking spots themselves for maintenance or have their own employees pull into them with golf carts while working. They are now requiring him to have a Dr's note to be able to switch his assigned parking spot. Not that we have an issue getting one, just waiting for the doctor. but all things considered, can they even request one... he has already proven to the state of AZ with a doctors note and all handicapped parking spots are sanctioned by city code/municipality. Would love to hear some opinions!! Thanks!!I am having to trade my assigned parking spot in for a handicapped spot to be assigned. Though i am not thrilled, this was my request because for obvious reasons, my BF legatimately benefits from the spot and needs it to be consistant. The unassigned parking spot is not properly being monitored, ticketed and even consistantly used by employees, even to the point that I have their head maintenance guy come into my house while working on my unit, instruct his carpet crew to park in the handicapped spot, I asked him to move and park somewhere else and in my own home argue with me about he will only Be there for an hour or so and he thinks its ok. I was SO MAD, therefore after month of this, I finally called the cops. They Came out yesterday to ticket and had found that the apartment complex was in violation because they took the signs down from one of their spots because they sold the handicapped unit to a non-handicapped resident and that spot goes with the unit. So we even lost a spot more

Resolved Question: what is the right Golf Ball for me?

I am currently using a Nike PD Soft. I have been playing seriously for 3 years. I still have issues slicing my drive. I use Taylormade driver and Callaway clubs, which are both designed to help me get the ball in the air. I put the ball in the air and dont rely on roll. I have a moderate swing speed. I had previously used Topflite Gamers, I liked them but my volkey wedges ripped up the cover. I prefer a softer ball under $40 and would prefer to pay no more then $30 a dozen. I dont know how to spin balls or do anything fancy, I hit and putt.... Any suggestions? more

Resolved Question: i really want to know how to spin chip shots PLZ?

i am a junior on my varsity golf team and when i have chip shots from 5 to 30 yards to green, i want to be aggressive and put it at the flag and stop, couple bounces then stop but it doesn't and i use pro v1's. i have brand new cleveland 60 degree wedge. now i have done it but its rare were it bounces once or twice then stops. i want to be able to do this in rough on good lie etc. this hitting downward crap isn't working. some tips or wrist movement etc would really help more

Resolved Question: Should chippers be banned if used in this way ?

My friend has a full set of golf clubs yet uses only his driver, chipper and putter (and sand iron if in a bunker). He uses his chipper in place of any normal iron, regardless of how far he is from the hole i.e. if he's 180 yards, instead of using a 6/7/8 iron like any normal golfer would, he'll use his chipper. If he's 90 yards out, he won't hit a wedge, he'll hit his chipper. He uses it from the tee on every par three. My take on this is that it's very similar to the current row over UK MP's expenses. He's not breaking any rules, but it goes comletely against what he "should" be doing. It's a complete kick in the face to everyone who has tried to learn the wonderful game of golf using every club in the bag. So my question is this.......am I alone here ? Or does public opinion agree that chippers should be banned unless they are being used within 10 yards of the green ? Thoughts/comments/suggestions of what should happen to his chipper are most welcome. Thanks. more

i am 12 and have been using hand-me-down clubs for about a half of a year and i want to buy my own clubs. what order should i get them in? i have gotten a driver i love for Christmas (cleveland gold launcher 400 cc old version) and i have just ordered a putter off of ebay ( odyssey white hot xg 7 center shaft). what should i get next? i am a decent iron player and can manage around the green. should i get some wedges? I recently noticed a little rattling noise inside my pitching wedge and 6 iron.
